Trustees-Elders

Elders of the church who are also Trustees of the charity

The Ordained Elders below are responsible for the day-to-day operations and legal responsibilities of the church and charity.  All Elders hold equal status in the church but have specific roles assigned.  However, being a small community church there is a reasonable shared level of crossover in duties carried out.

Stephen Raybould – Elder
(Committee Chairman and Vestry Elder)

Stephen has lived in the Reading area most of his life, he first worked in a local bank before moving the to Post Office in 1969 (before privatisation) and remained there until redundancy in 1990 working in various admin/accountancy roles.  He then took up a job at Reading Station on telephone enquiries and ticket office duties – This being his dream Job as his hobbies have always been Railways and rail travel.

He met Ann in 1999 and moved to Caversham Park.  He came across Caversham Park church at one of our Easter sing activities held at the Milestone community centre and joined the church shortly after.  His skills where just what was needed to become our committee chair and was duly elected, Stephen now chairs our meetings, he has also recently taken up the duty as vestry elder for our Sunday services.

Dr Alison Johnston – Elder
(Secretary, Safeguarding, Lead Pastor)

Looking after the day-to-day administration and the overall operation and services of the church (Except for accounts and Gifting).  Alison hosts the church office as we do not have a building of our own.   Alison’s other duties include that of paroral care.  You can see more of Alison’s Ministry duties on our Ministry team page.

Robert Dimmick TSSF – Elder
(Treasurer)

Robert looks after our accounts and gifting, prepares all the accounts data for meetings as required.   Robert is also a valued member of our Ministry team and you can find out more about Robert’s duties on our Ministry team page.

Revd Margaret Dimmick TSSF
(Ministry Representative)

Margaret is our Anglican Minister (PTO) with authorisation to work within the United Reformed Church here at Caversham Park.   Margaret is our first point of contact during the Day (Monday to Friday) for Ministry and Pastoral care enquiries.  You can find out more about Margaret and her duties on our Ministry team page.

Dorothy Abrey – Elder
(Organist – Music)

Dorothy is a long-standing member of Caversham Park United Reform church and its predecessor Caversham Park LEP.

One of Dorothy’s my main one role is that of keyboard player.  Sometimes this is straight forward, sometimes the hymns/songs chosen, require adapting so that the congregation is able to sing them!

I am also responsible for organising, providing and serving coffee at the close of each service together with my friend Mrs Pat Gray.

Together we also organise and co-ordinate any other events for which we require food and refreshment.  This includes co-ordinating our monthly Bring and Share lunch which takes place on the fourth Sunday of each month.

I prepare and produce a regular rota of services which shows members of the congregation when they are scheduled to take a particular role in the service.  Because we are a small congregation it is necessary to do other tasks as required.

Dorothy tries to be aware of the needs and concerns of other members of the congregation and follow up on issues raised at our elders meetings for the benefit of all members.
